Patient Care Assistant

Located just 1-hour from Cheyenne and situated on the banks of the North Platte River, Torrington thrives on its rural pace and charm, and offers plenty of outdoor adventures. Play golf, visit the museum, participate in local cultural events and explore a wealth of recreational opportunities.

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area while promoting an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients. You, the ideal candidate, will have strong communication with physicians, nurses, and call in. In the role you will also process patient records, record bed assignments in system, make face sheets, and assist with other areas in the admission process. This will be a full-time night shift position, with three 12-hour shifts per week. Weekend and holiday rotation.

This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit / department.

Core functions include :

  • Assisting in activities of daily living and completing necessary tasks to promote patient health
  • Collecting patient specimens and data, including vital signs
  • Recognizing and reporting abnormalities and / or changes in the patient's health status
  • Performing procedures and using equipment as delegated by a licensed professional
  • Performing receptionist / clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency
  • Maintaining a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information
  • Maintaining adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies
  • Assisting with transporting patients

Minimum qualifications include :

  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice
  • One year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service
  • Excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills
  • Preferred qualifications include :

  • Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure
  • Recent healthcare experience
  • Successful completion of an approved unit secretary program
