We are seeking a dedicated Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for a 48-day locum tenens assignment in South Dakota starting Oct 13, 2025. This flexible position offers 8-hour shifts across 1-5 days per week, focusing on functional medicine and advanced hormone therapy via telehealth consultations and follow-up care. Job Details Location : South Dakota Start Date : Oct 13, 2025 LOA : 48 days Provider Type Needed : Family Practice Nurse Practitioner Schedule : Flexible, 1-5 days per week, 8-hour shifts Responsibilities and Duties Conduct initial consultations and new patient lab reviews via video Review and interpret advanced labs including GI-MAP, Methyl Detox / Genomic Panels, ALCAT / food sensitivity testing, and comprehensive hormone / metabolic panels Develop personalized care plans encompassing lifestyle, nutrition, supplementation, and prescription therapy Manage asynchronous follow-up care, including secure messaging, protocol updates, and lab interpretation through EMR platforms Educate patients on test results and provide health optimization coaching Complete clinical documentation in EMR (CHARM / CANVAS) within 24 hours Deliver concise, functional medicine–focused SOAP notes and justifications for care plans Coordinate care with support staff, including RNs, MAs, and pharmacy teams Participate in chart audits or case reviews as requested by leadership Prescribe and manage bioidentical hormones, peptides, nutraceuticals, and other therapeutic agents as clinically appropriate Monitor patient responses, adjust dosing, and accurately document all medication changes Collaborate with compounding pharmacies and support teams for medication delivery Prescribe FDA-approved medications such as Metformin, Tadalafil, Testosterone, Progesterone, Estradiol, and Armour Thyroid Additional Information Candidates with experience in functional medicine and hormone therapy are preferred; however, adaptable candidates with a foundational understanding of hormone therapy will be considered Must hold an active Nurse Practitioner license in South Dakota (or eligibility) Required board certifications : Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP) DEA certification required Comfort with rapid learning and varied backgrounds is valued Benefits Strong compensation Travel-related expenses covered A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided Dedicated recruiter for future travel opportunities What are Locum Tenens Jobs?
