Summary :
The Histology Technician performs routine and specialized laboratory procedures to prepare tissue, biological materials, and body fluids for microscopic examination by pathologists.
Minimum Qualifications
Education :
High School Diploma + 2 years lab experience ORAssociate of Science + 1 year Histology lab experienceRegistry certification (technician level) preferredExperience :
1 year previous Histology Technologist experience preferred12 continuing education credits required per yearSkills & Competencies :
Ability to follow detailed laboratory proceduresManual dexterity for dissection, microtome use, staining, and equipment maintenanceBasic computer skills or ability to learn lab softwareAbility to interact respectfully with diverse patient / customer populationsPhysical Demands :
Medium level : 20–50 lbs occasionally; 10–25 lbs frequentlyEssential Functions
Receive and handle tissue, biological materials, and body fluids.Process, fix, embed, cut (microtome), and stain tissue specimens.Prepare stains / solutions and follow all lab safety procedures.Maintain equipment, inventory, records, slide files, and tissue blocks.Handle phone inquiries and provide basic technical information when appropriate.Keep work area clean and organized.Stay updated on new techniques / equipment; participate in training / education.Assist in orientation and training of new staff.About First Connect Health
