Main Purpose of Job
Under general direction, the main responsibilities of this position are to develop and implement new and updated walk-in refrigeration system designs from conception through prototyping and assist in the manufacturing process by troubleshooting and resolving refrigeration engineering problems.
Examples of Duties
- Prepare products and systems from conception through completion of present and new designs in refrigeration. Use drafting software to create drawings, develop Bills of Materials (BOM's), and assist in routings.
- Determine needed system capacities and perform calculations for factors such as loads and piping sizes, and layout designs using drafting software. Integrate refrigeration systems and design into the product assemblies
- Revise existing product literature, technical literature, and manuals to assure consistency with other literature. Writes technical data for specification sheets, price lists, and product catalogs. Develop and maintain specification manuals for refrigeration systems and develop assembly instructions for refrigeration division.
- Assess the suitability of vendor-supplied parts and components for agency-approved products by consulting with purchasing staff and manufacturer's representatives.
- Seek input on walk-in and cabinet refrigeration marketplace needs and trends from internal and external sources.
- Identify cost reduction and product improvement opportunities.
- Provide mentoring to colleagues as relating to mechanical and refrigeration design.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering concepts related to product lines.Considerable knowledge of agency standards that apply to the design and manufacture of refrigeration equipment, including Underwriters Laboratory, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, the National Sanitation Foundation, Intertek Semko, the US Food & Drug Administration, and any other agencies with jurisdiction.Skill in communicating orally and in writing, including discussion of complex technical and regulatory subject matter.Considerable knowledge of emerging refrigerants. R290 or CO2 knowledge preferred. A2L refrigerant knowledge a plusSkill in planning and organizing work including projects of significant complexity.Support as needed :
Research emerging technologies in energy savings, sustainability, and communications to assist in the new product development process.Maintain working knowledge of applicable energy regulations including testing methods and safety standards. Develop and document test procedures to support new testing methods.Participate in continuous training and development of technical service, manufacturing associates, authorized service agents, and others as required.Seek out product and process improvements and help drive them through to completion via the Company ECN process.Assists with updating and maintaining department procedures and policies, standards, and guidelines.Provides support to manufacturing special products as needed.Occasionally has direct contact with field sales representatives on special problems. Meets with dealers and consultants as necessary.Travel across manufacturing facilities will be required (Professional & Personal Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and related work experience with strong knowledge of refrigeration design and applications.Minimum of 7 years' industry experience.Proficiency in the use of 3D modeling software (Solid works), preferred.Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics a plusSupervisory experience a plusMicrosoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Project.Click here to apply online
