Description :
The MRI Tech works Monday through Friday from 6 : 00 AM to 2 : 30 PM, with shifts that may vary slightly.
Actively maintains a safe environment for all within each of the MRI Safety Zones.
Obtains and maintains proficiency in IV starts for contrast administration.
Begins and ends exams and documents appropriately in the electronic medical record.
Assists in providing care for patients requiring moderate and deep sedation.
Participation in standby rotation is mandatory as assigned by the lead technologist.
Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Maintains a log of all patients, procedures, complications, and system problems.
Describes and applies the physics behind the MRI system.
Performs quality control functions in MRI in accordance with department quality control processes.
Assists physicians as necessary.
Assists in patient scheduling.
Transports patients as necessary.
Mentors medical imaging students during rotations and clinicals as needed.
The MRI Tech works under the direction of a board-certified radiologist and is responsible for the optimal completion of all procedures utilizing the magnetic resonance imaging scanner.
May be assigned to a variety of locations depending on the needs of the department.
Works with 2 Philips Achieva 1.5T scanners, ER / Inpatient / Outpatient cases, and is part of a stroke-certified center.
