Description :

This facility has 174 licensed beds and is a community teaching hospital.

The unit consists of 44 beds with an average daily census of 44 patients.

Common patient types and diagnoses include cardiac-focused cases such as chest pain, myocardial infarction, new-onset cardiac arrhythmia, medical overflow, and potential stroke patients.

Patient ratios are 1 RN to 4-5 patients and 1 CNA to 8-9 patients.

Nursing support includes CNAs for assistance with activities of daily living, ambulation, and patient care.

A charge nurse is available, generally without a patient assignment, with additional team lead support.

Phlebotomy services, IV / VAT teams, and telemetry monitoring are provided to support nursing care.

Resource nurses and clinical supervisors are available for ongoing support.

Nurses will manage non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone, heparin drips, and blood products.

The unit follows a collegial, supportive, and non-retaliatory culture.

Travelers may be required to float within their region and scope of practice as needed.

Technology and equipment used include Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors.
