Summary
As an experienced Associate in the Employment, Labor & Benefits Practice Group, you will be representing employers regarding a broad range of employment issues including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of restrictive covenants, wage and hour disputes, and employee misconduct or discipline.
Essential Functions
- Advise and counsel employers on various issues arising under federal and state employment laws;
- Draft and review basic and complex employment, confidentiality, restrictive covenant and invention agreements;
- Review, revise and draft various employment handbooks and policies;
- Possess a basic understanding of COBRA and workers’ compensation coverage;
- Conduct workplace trainings on various employment law issues;
- Represent employers in court, before state and federal administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, IDHR and OSHA), at mediations, arbitrations, fact-finding conferences and on-site visits;
- Manage client files, with minimal supervision, including engaging in regular communication with clients;
- Conduct witness interviews, gather client documentation and conduct complex factual investigation and analysis;
- Conduct legal research, draft and respond to written discovery, draft pleadings, draft motions and supporting memoranda, including dispositive and discovery motions;
- Prepare for, conduct, and defend depositions without immediate supervision, including travel as required;
- Argue discovery and dispositive motions in state and federal courts;
- Manage and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, and keep supervising attorneys and clients up to date on the status of assigned matters;
- Work effectively as part of a team and independently; and
- Other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
Required Qualifications
Licensed and in good standing in the State of Illinois5 to 7 years of experience practicing employment law, preferably at a law firmJ.D. from an accredited law schoolSuperior verbal and written communication skillsStrong research, analytical and problem-solving skillsFlexible and adaptable with the ability to multi-taskExcellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlinesAbility to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriateAble to work independently in a fast-paced work environmentBenefits

The salary range for this position is based upon various factors including the individual's experience, skills, and qualifications. An estimate of the salary range for individuals working a hybrid schedule in our Chicago office is $160,000-$190,000.
