POSITION SUMMARY : The Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the Senior Executive team, engaged in defining the overall business strategy and direction of the Health Centers and Pharmacies. The position provides medical, dental, gender-affirming care, and mental health & recovery services clinical oversight, expertise, and leadership to ensure the delivery of affordable quality primary and specialty care services. Responsibilities also include the strategy, development, and implementation of innovative clinical programs that include collaboration with strategic business partners.
SALARY : $257,800-$322,300
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
The essential functions of this role include but are not limited to, ensuring we maintain high-quality medical services; traveling, driving, or having reliable transportation; strong written and oral communication; relationship building; utilizing a computer for typing and research; attending and leading meetings; and presenting to small groups. The CMO will partner closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to lead strategic planning for primary and specialty care service lines. The CMO will provide supervision to the regional medical directors, dental director, gender-affirming care director, and the director of mental health & recovery services.The CMO will be expected to provide between 30%-50% of their time in direct patient care.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead and implement the clinical direction for the organization with a focus on primary and HIV / AIDS care.
- Serves as medical leadership champion and leader for Equitas Health's PCMH certification.
- Responsible for clinical quality of care delivered by all employed and contracted providers.
- Responsible for credentialing and privileging for all providers.
- Provide leadership and oversight over the development of a competency-based development and training program for all clinical staff.
- Keep abreast of emerging models in health care delivery; identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.
- Supervise physicians and other clinical staff.
- Provide the highest quality outpatient medical services to patients by assessing healthcare needs, performing physical examinations, ordering pertinent diagnostic tests, diagnosing, providing education to patients, and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled substances.
- Ensure Medical Center compliance with the 340b program, including but not limited to; proper documentation of 340b medications administered to patients as part of their medical care and documentation of eligible patient visits that would provide an auditable record in the event of a HRSA inspection.
- Provide culturally competent health care to all patients with a particular focus on the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Play a key role on a multidisciplinary team to develop coordinated treatment plans for patients.
- Assist with the accreditation process.
- Provide clinical guidance, support, and education to the organization.
- Participate in senior management business and clinical strategy development and implementation.
- Build and leverage cross-functional collaborative relationships to achieve shared organizational goals.
- Develop and implement strategic goals related to quality improvement, management programs, and accreditation standards.
- Recommend clinical objectives with reference to the implementation of health plans.
- Advise on information system needs and interpret clinical data.
- Develop health center policies and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, FQHC, and Equitas Health standards.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, program, and funder regulations, including standards of HRSA, CMS, ODH, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain and develop strong working relationships with local, regional, and national agencies involved in primary care, HIV / AIDS, and LGBTQIA+ healthcare.
- Build ongoing relationships with other service providers in the community and promote the services that Equitas Health Center and Pharmacy provide.
