Job descriptionRole and ResponsibilitiesThe CNC Engineer's main responsibility is to maintain the highest level of technical capabilities and execution in our industry. The CNC Engineer should support Quoting, NPI, Lights out Manufacturing, Programming Strategies and Continuing Education on the CNC Industry to produce the most efficient and precision use of equipment enabling high quality product with the shortest possible cycle times. The CNC Engineer should perform in a way that Scrap % due to non-personnel related issues is maintained at < 3% and Quoting Accuracy for Setup and Cutting time of <5% deviation from actual.Support Quoting efforts by providing precise estimates for setup times, spindle times, and lead times, highlighting concerns over unachievable This at times will also require meetings with internal Engineering and Quality, and possibly Engineering and Quality from our customers.Support NPI efforts to help craft operational notes, initial programming strategies, fixturing strategies, review whether requirements are achievable, etc.In charge of project prep and review after receipt of order for new part numbers to set each up for success. To include, designs and sourcing of CNC program, fixturing, initial tooling, etc.Lead for programming across the In charge of generating and/or reviewing programs before they go into use, stressing the importance of efficiency of cutting time without sacrificing quality.Stay educated on the state of the industry regarding CNC equipment and capabilities to help implement beneficial changes to stay on the cutting edge.Review all production and repetitive work for opportunities for improvement to reduce staging, setup, and cutting time, etc., without sacrificing quality and consistently implement these improvements.In charge of incorporating as much lights out manufacturing as is possible . This position should always be evaluating our current processes on each project to determine candidates for lights out manufacturing and engineering those solutions for ultimate implementation .In charge of all Root Cause and troubleshooting efforts, as well as systemic quality This position will own the process and refinement of process through establishment of Corrective and Preventive Actions in response to Root Cause and Quality Issues.Work with CNC Supervisor to ensure there is adequate Preventive Maintenance Schedules, and keep informed on whether they are being followed.Aid in troubleshooting machine performance issues and maintenance as needed.Perform backup duties for the CNC Supervisor position as needed.Perform 6S activities.Perform other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
