Job description

Project Manager

Larson Design Group (LDG) is an award-winning, employee-owned Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting Firm. Guided by our core values, we're expanding our team, opening new offices, and adding new offerings to provide responsive, innovative solutions to clients nationwide.

Being 100% employee-owned directly impacts our culture : it drives our decision-making, motivates our teams, increases our productivity, improves retention, and contributes to the future success of our company. Our culture is one where we work hard for our clients and for each other and we have fun collaborating, sharing experience and expertise, and learning along the way. We're passionate about delivering exceptional quality, elevating client relationships, enriching the careers and lives of our employee owners, and enhancing the communities where we live and serve.

At LDG, we strive to create an organization where people want to work. We offer a flexible work environment, paid training for required licensures, competitive benefits, bonus plans, and a company-funded Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) while supporting your professional and personal growth.

The Project Manager must be a skilled and experienced individual within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of multidisciplinary projects. This role requires a deep understanding of the PMI Competency Framework and its application to AEC projects, ensuring alignment with best practices and the strategic objectives of the organization. Manages in excess of $1M.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Integration Management : Develop and manage project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations. Coordinate across multiple disciplines and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met. Lead the integration of project processes, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing.
  • Contract Management : Oversee program-level contract administration and performance. Develop and oversee contract strategies aligned with program objectives. Monitor performance and compliance across projects, escalating issues as necessary. Facilitate communication between senior leadership, clients, and project teams. Approve and manage contract modifications and high-risk negotiations.
  • Scope Management : Define and manage project scope, including developing a clear project charter and work breakdown structure (WBS). Oversee scope changes through a formal change management process, ensuring that all impacts are assessed and documented.
  • Schedule Management : Develop detailed project schedules, identifying key milestones and deadlines. Monitor project timelines and manage any deviations, ensuring timely completion of project deliverables. Utilize scheduling tools and techniques to optimize resource allocation and project efficiency.
  • Cost & Financial Management : Direct project-specific cost estimation, financial forecasting, and EVM efforts. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement cost control measures and value optimization strategies. Monitor and report on project financial performance to ensure alignment with objectives. Identify and address risks or variances in cost, schedule, and value outcomes.
  • Quality Management : Establish and manage quality standards for project deliverables, in line with industry best practices and client requirements. Conduct quality audits and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with project quality plans. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma practices.
  • Resource Management : Develop and lead project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Partner with Technical Manager and others to ensure resources are aligned to meet project goals.
  • Communication Management : Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged. Facilitate effective communication across project teams, clients, and subcontractors. Prepare and present project status reports, including progress, risks, and issues. Risk Management : Identify, access, and manage project risks, including developing mitigation strategies. Monitor and control risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring proactive responses to potential issues. Maintain a risk register and ensure regular risk reviews and updates.
  • Procurement Management : Participate in the procurement process, including the selection of subcontractors and suppliers. Manage contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Negotiate and resolve procurement-related issues, maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Stakeholder Management : Identify and manage project stakeholders, ensuring their expectations are aligned with project objectives. Foster strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and repeat business. Address stakeholder concerns and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
  • Leadership and Professionalism : Lead by example, demonstrating ethical behavior, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Mentor and develop associate project managers and team members, promoting professional growth and knowledge sharing. Stay current with industry trends, PMI standards, and AEC best practices, applying them to improve project outcomes.

Education and Experience

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of four-ten (4-10) years' job-related experience in the AEC industry, with a proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplined projects.
  • Licensure / Certification : Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
