Position summary :
The Haul Unit Operator safely operates a 40-50 ton off road haul truck to move material within the plant. May be responsible for hauling crushed stone from the pit to a primary crusher or movement of material and stockpiles within a plant. Other plant operation duties may be assigned. CDL license not required.
This position is a day shift position, based in Lubbock, TX.
Essential responsibilities :
Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with training and manufacturer's instructionPerform pre-shift safety inspection on the vehicle systems, equipment and accessoriesPerform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipmentReport needed repairs to supervisionEnsure cargo is properly loaded according to safety requirementsResponsible for good housekeeping of equipmentAssist in plant maintenance and repairsAssist with operation of other equipment as neededAdhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulationsPerform duties with minimum supervisionPreferred education and experience :
High school diploma, GED or equivalent experienceWorking knowledge of heavy construction equipment1 year of related experience; previous haul truck driver experience a plusExperience with a variety of hand toolsKnowledge, skills and abilities :
Must be able to work 10-12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as neededMust be able to work 6pm - 6amMust be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to read and interpret gaugesPossess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reportsMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipmentMust be able to perform duties in a safe mannerMust be service oriented with proven ability to work in a team environmentPhysical requirements :
Must have good hand / eye coordination and be able to operate hand / foot controlsPossess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feetMust be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and serviceMust be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicleMust be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per dayCapable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbsMust work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures : heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditionsMust be able to work at various heightsWorking conditions :
Larger equipment is typically air conditioned. There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
