We are currently seeking a R&D Support Specialist for our Arizona location, conveniently situated approximately 10 minutes from Glendale, AZ.

Scope of Position : The R&D Support Specialist is a key member of the Research & Development and Quality teams, responsible for supporting product development initiatives while maintaining strict control and compliance of product labeling within a nutraceutical manufacturing environment. This hybrid role combines technical support for R&D projects with ownership of all label management functions, including receipt, inventory, issuance, reconciliation, and destruction. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to regulatory detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to support innovation and compliance.

Principal Responsibilities :

R&D Support

  • Assist the R&D team in the development of new nutraceutical products, including formulation preparation, sample creation, testing, and documentation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of formulations, raw materials, batch sheets, and testing data in compliance with cGMP and company standards.
  • Support pilot and scale-up trials, ensuring coordination with Production, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
  • Track and maintain R&D ingredient inventory, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage of all materials.
  • Participate in product stability studies, sensory evaluations, and related technical assessments.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for R&D documentation, project tracking, and report generation.

Label Control

  • Serve as the primary custodian for all product labels used in nutraceutical production and R&D.
  • Receive and verify incoming label shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with approved artwork and specifications.
  • Maintain secure and organized storage of labels in accordance with company SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Issue labels to Production and R&D teams following approved label issuance procedures.
  • Track label usage, maintain real-time label inventory, and reconcile all issued labels post-production.
  • Document and oversee the controlled destruction of obsolete, damaged, or excess labels in compliance with cGMP.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to ensure all labels meet current FDA, DSHEA, and company labeling standards.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and traceability for all label activities.
  • Competencies :

  • Knowledge of FDA labeling regulations, DSHEA compliance, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Supervisory Responsibility :

    There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

    Work Environment :

    Working 100% of the time in a manufacturing facility setting. Subject to noise from machinery used from time to time. Exposed to customer products when operating and testing machinery.

    This is a hybrid role that includes time spent in office, R&D laboratory, and production floor environments. The employee must follow all cGMP, safety, and quality procedures at all times.

  • Standing or walking for extended periods during testing, sampling, or label-related activities.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for operating laboratory instruments, handling labels, measuring ingredients, and recording data.
  • Lifting, carrying, or moving label cartons, materials, or small equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Reaching, bending, or crouching to access lab benches, equipment, or storage areas.
  • Regular use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including lab coats, gloves, hairnets, masks, and safety glasses.
  • Working near or handling raw materials, powders, and other nutraceutical ingredients in a controlled environment.
  • Tolerance for occasional exposure to temperature-controlled production and storage areas, as well as potential allergens related to product ingredients.
  • Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 5 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm. Some overtime required as business needs dictate.

    Travel :

    There is little to no travel required with this position.

    Education and Experience :

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific or technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience in a nutraceutical, dietary supplement, or related cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
