Maintenance Technician

America's Central Port District is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance department. The position's primary focus is expected to be responding to Work Orders and Make Readies for River's Edge Apartments, a 193-unit apartment complex in Granite City, Illinois, and for the Port's commercial / industrial properties.

Applicant Requirements

Demonstrates competency in all housing maintenance fields, carpentry, HVAC, and one or more of the following additional construction fields : electrical, plumbing, or mechanical. Demonstrates initiative and a strong desire to learn. Exercises independent judgment. Requires daily performance of physical activity and labor.

Requires general knowledge in the carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, concrete forming / finishing, painting, roofing, flooring, and electrical trades. Requires a minimum of 5 year of relevant work experience with increasingly responsible performance. Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED. Must have or obtain an EPA Section 608 Type 2 HVAC certification within 90 days of employment. General knowledge of dry-pipe fire sprinkler systems a plus. Education in any of the skilled trades is recommended.
