Job Title: Locum - Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine NC

Overview:
VHS is seeking dedicated and highly skilled Nurse Practitioners to join our team as Locum Providers in General Medicine across North Carolina. This vital role involves performing non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans. Offering flexible scheduling on a PRN basis, this position provides an excellent opportunity to support our nation's heroes while enjoying competitive compensation and professional flexibility. Required Skills:

• Valid Nurse Practitioner license in North Carolina
• Experience in general medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or related fields
• Strong interview and assessment skills for VA exams
• Ability to perform physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with documentation and submission of exam reports
• Reliable transportation and ability to work at various sites within specified radii

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience with VA or military-related assessments
• Certification in occupational health or related specialties
• Experience with compensation and pension examinations
• Familiarity with VA or government procedures for medical evaluations

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master’s or higher degree in Nursing
• At least 2 years of clinical experience in general or internal medicine
• Proven track record with administrative documentation and reporting

Other Requirements:

• Own office location for conducting exams
• Willingness to work ½ or 1-day shifts as needed
• Availability to start on March 6, 2026
• No travel reimbursements outside of the provided rates; local candidates preferred
• Certification for VA exams (if applicable) is beneficial but not mandatory

Earn a competitive hourly pay rate of $402.00, with transparent flat rates for half-day ($600) and full-day ($1200) shifts, along with a $650 bonus for completing initial training and your first exams.
