Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for an Inspector Magnetic Particle and Penetrant A to join our Fabrication team in the Puget Sound in Washington.

As an Inspector specializing in Magnetic Particle and Penetrant methods, you will be integral to our quality assurance processes, ensuring the integrity and reliability of critical components. Your expertise in advanced inspection techniques will help identify potential defects and contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing practices. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in this role, leveraging your analytical skills to enhance product quality and drive defect reduction initiatives. Your commitment to precision and excellence will be essential in maintaining the high standards that define our operations.

Position Responsibilities :

Set up, adjust, and operate magnetic particle and penetrant inspection equipment, inspecting and interpreting results to accept or reject articles based on established standards.

Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to evaluate and implement improvements in build processes and defect reduction initiatives.

Compile and maintain reports on magnetic particle and penetrant inspection results, documenting any nonconforming materials or processes.

Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures.

Analyze inspection requirements and coordinate work schedules and resources to optimize efficiency.

Troubleshoot inspection-related problems and develop plans to resolve issues effectively.

Verify the accuracy and completeness of documentation, including manufacturing orders, drawings, and nonconformance reports.

Monitor and process non-conforming parts and assemblies, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to Material Review Board dispositions.

Conduct process control checks on magnetic particle and penetrant inspection chemicals and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.

Apply magnetic fields and penetrants to parts, inspecting for defects under specified conditions and documenting findings.

Secure non-conforming items in designated areas to maintain control and traceability throughout the inspection process.

Perform re-inspections of reworked items per engineering disposition, communicating findings with relevant stakeholders.

Provide peer-to-peer training to assist other employees in procedures, equipment use, and standard interpretation.

Verify certifications for tools, equipment, and personnel to ensure compliance with operational standards.

Handle and monitor hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols and regulations.

Sell completed jobs or in-process checks to inspectors at appropriate steps, and assist other employees with setups and methods as needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards :

Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

Utilize personal safety gear to protect face / eyes, hands / arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications :

Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant Certification OR equivalent on the job training hours completed for a Level II American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Certification.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs / steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

Willing and able to work any shift.

Preferred Qualifications :

Previously or currently hold a NDT Level II Magnetic or Penetrant Certification.

NDI (non-destructive inspection) or NDT (non-destructive test) experience.​

Typical Education & Experience :

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range : $31.32 / hr. – $59.47 / hr.
