POSITION SUMMARY
Supports the Executive Director of Early Learning to oversee the operation of YMCA Early Learning Program including the planning and implementation of Head Starts School Readiness, Family and Community Engagement, Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA), Mental Health, Nutrition, membership, and other comprehensive service areas. Assures best practices in Early Learning programs are met, monitors compliance with Community Care Licensing, CACFP, State and Federal program requirements related to Early Childhood.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field plus equivalent coursework and experience related to early childhood education as defined within the Head Start Act, section 648(a)(2)(i)-(ii) is required, preferably supplemented by a master's degree related to Education.
- RELATED EXPERIENCE : Five years of early education teaching and administrative experience in pre-school age programs. Experience in management and development of program staff and parent volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- SPECIALIZED SKILLS : Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, and the Head Start Act. Ability to direct total operations of assigned centers and service areas, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of program budget, marketing and public relations, and program development. Knowledge and experience in strategic planning, monitoring, data analysis, and developing community partnerships.
- LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS : Valid State of California Program Director permit. CLASS Certification.

Collaborates in the Early Learning department's self-assessment, community needs assessment, Y's strategic plans and program goals, long range plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.Responsible for implementing the Head Start Performance Standards and Head Start Act.The Operations Executive Director of Early Learning is responsible for maintaining on-going monitoring and maintaining program compliance.Attend LACOE Coordinator and Management meetings at LACOE and any other LACOE meetings as needed.Responsible for data entry such as inputting information into LACOE's ChildPlus data based with up-to-date information.In collaboration with Executive Directors, develop and implement an annual operating plan for staff's professional development, monitoring of continuous quality improvement, data analysis related to child outcomes and school readiness goals, family partnership goals, and program improvement plans and action plans, including overall goals, timelines and expected results.Effectively operate the facility and all program activities of assigned centers and service areas Manage the facility on a regular or daily basis, ensuring that program is operating in compliance and meeting the needs of children and families while focusing on health and safety of all children and programs run smoothly. Support senior leadership at additional locations on facility operations as needed.Establish appropriate management tracking methods to ensure that all early learning centers perform effectively in all key areas of health and safety, attendance, enrollment, recruitment, quality interactions, curriculum implementation, assessments, screenings, family engagement, health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, and all comprehensive service areas are monitored to meet the needs of children and families.Address Specific Problem Areas :Identify and correct areas in which the preschool sites are under- performing.
Organize task forces as necessary to address these issues.Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service areas.Monitors program budget and collaborate in developing program budget based on needs and data analysis.Supports the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of staff in collaboration with Senior Leadership.Identify career candidates and work an active plan to support their development and advancement.In collaboration with Senior Leadership, Develops, manages, and monitors the program's operating budget and ensures budget targets are met or exceeded.Develops and directs high quality relationships through family partnerships and family engagement, coaching and mentoring of staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.Assist the Executive Director in the identification and cultivation of parent committees and Policy Council.Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies, Head Start, State, and Fee based programs.Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCAAttend staff meetings and trainings as required.Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Fairness) as well as the YMCA Core Values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.What's in it for you?
