Job description

Job Duties :

The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is hiring a Facilities Work and Asset Management Supervisor . As the Work and Asset Management Supervisor for the Public Works / Facilities Group, comprised of Facilities' Operations and Maintenance, Energy Management, Central Business, Strategic Planning, and Design and Construction Divisions, duties include but are not limited to :

  • Ensuring accurate property and asset inventory information by leading in-house and contractual efforts in a continuous facility inventory and condition assessment program.
  • Updating property and asset information in the CMMS database as work and projects are completed.
  • Serving as co-administrator of Facilities' portfolio of Asset Management software and central control of asset related documentation, plans, and information within the database.
  • Guiding the development and implementation of Facility Management software modules and initiatives alongside in-house and contracted Information Technology personnel.
  • Evaluating incoming requests to determine priority, and initiating work requests for projects concerning minor construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair resulting from inspection reports, conditions assessments, and requests from other City departments.
  • Preparing and providing cost estimates for minor and specific work and assisting Facilities Leadership in the planning and coordinating of facility-related requests.
  • Monitoring and tracking the status of work requests, and providing routine reports and statistical analysis to support workforce and facility performance initiatives.
  • Managing a customer feedback survey process.
  • Leading the Work and Asset Management Team as liaisons and primary customer focal points for the Facilities Group.
  • Keeping Facilities leadership apprised of new projects and requests, and provide data, statistical analyses, and other information as necessary for budget preparation and financial planning.

    Minimum Requirements :

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : High school or GED plus eight (8) years’ experience including five (5) in a supervisory position infields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities and associated with such positions as Building Maintenance Operations Coordinator, Building maintenance Inspections Supervisor, Building Maintenance Administrator, Project Coordinator, Construction Superintendent, Assistant Project

    Administrator, Assistant Administrative Officer, or Assistant Superintendent of Buildings, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have valid driver’s license.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to

    short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies. This position may require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employee’s supervisor based on position assigned.

    This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing.

    Experience working in asset and property information databases

    Demonstrated proficiency with facility condition assessments

    Experience overseeing asset maintenance / management software initiatives

    Experience managing work requests

    Demonstrated experience and proficiency with cost and time estimating for facility related work

    Customer coordination for facility related work

    Experience analyzing data for work and financial planning

    Supervisory / Lead experience in a client-focused environment
