Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists is seeking a talented Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT to join our Critical Care and Emergency team

Potential Schedule : 4-Day work week
Compensation : $25 - 30 / hr based on skill set, experience, and licensure status. (RVT, VTS)
We are a 24 / 7 Specialty and Emergency hospital staffed with an amazing team of compassionate and experienced veterinarians, highly skilled RVTs and an awesome team of well-trained support staff. New team members are trained through a mentorship program before working independently. Applicants must have a positive attitude and an excellent work ethic with a minimum of 3 years in critical care or emergency preferred. You must be self-motivated and able to think on your feet.

Our outstanding medicine is supported by a team of incredible departments including Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, and Dermatology.
Critical Care / Emergency -Veterinary Technician Duties :
Deliver exceptional nursing care to critically ill and emergent patients
Triage patients and assist in rapid medical intervention
Monitor vital signs, assess patient stability, and escalate concerns promptly
Administer medications, fluid therapy, blood products, and CRIs
Proficiently place peripheral and central IV catheters, feeding tubes, and urinary catheters
Assist with emergency procedures such as CPR, wound management, and trauma stabilization
Utilize advanced monitoring equipment (e.g., ECG, capnography, blood pressure, SPO2)
Support in-patient care including ICU monitoring and patient rounds
Accurately document treatments, diagnostics, and patient updates in medical records
Communicate effectively with veterinarians, fellow team members, and clients
Maintain clear and professional communication across departments and shifts
Effectively communicate with the incoming team at shift end with clarity and respect
Remain composed and focused in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize
Be open to mentorship and guidance from department leaders and engage in ongoing training
Share ideas, feedback, and concerns with hospital leadership in a constructive, solutions-focused manner
Partner with the management team and staff to improve workflows and ensure best hospital practices
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Passion for Veterinary Medicine and commitment to the highest standards of patient care
Strong team player with a desire to share knowledge and support peers
