Job description

Program Manager In Robotics Surgical Technology

Join Medtronic as a Program Manager in our Robotics Surgical Technology (RST) Released Product Engineering (RPE) Project Management Office (PMO). In this pivotal role, you'll lead a dynamic team, collaborating across departments like R&D, Quality Affairs, and Marketing to spearhead a series of successful RPE project release. In this role, you will :

  • Lead and manage multiple hardware programs and projects across the released product portfolio, ensuring timely delivery of scope within quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Drive execution of hardware-related changes including end-of-life component replacements, design optimizations, complaint- and CAPA-driven improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Partner with functional leaders, product owners, and subsystem leads to define and align project scope, requirements, and testing strategy.
  • Manage program schedules, risks, interdependencies, and resource planning using established portfolio tools.
  • Facilitate subsystem pre-scoping and steering committee reviews to secure alignment and trade-off decisions for resource prioritization.
  • Collaborate with Verification & Validation, Systems Engineering, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure appropriate test coverage and documentation.
  • Prepare and present program status updates and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Champion continuous improvement and the Medtronic Mindset by fostering collaboration, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving.

This person will ensure that his / her / their program teams are :

  • A Program Management is responsible for released product engineering project management :

  • Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop, and manage projects focused on sustaining the HUGO platform and enhancing product reliability.
  • Direct, develop, and coordinate the activities of Program / Project Managers in supporting Robotics Surgical Technology efforts.
  • Develop and monitor schedules, plans, tasks, and priorities, ensuring a streamlined workflow.
  • Drive problem-solving sessions, maintaining a sense of urgency and holding team members accountable to commitments.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks, balancing time, schedule, cost, and quality, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Manage project financials, including forecasting and tracking of accruals and actuals.
  • Cultivate a broad understanding of Medtronic's Surgical Robotics and Instrumentation, leveraging this knowledge to drive project success.
  • MUST HAVE (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS) :

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of project / direct management experience or Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years of project / direct management experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in project management or commercial new product delivery in a regulated industry.
  • High degree of competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing within a matrixed organization.
  • Experience managing Program / Project Managers with a history of increasing engagement.
  • NICE TO HAVE :

  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management or commercial new product delivery.
  • MBA and PMP / CSM Certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework methodologies.
  • Knowledge in product development, project management, and commercialization in the medical device industry.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; must possess excellent relationship building skills with direct reports, peers, and senior leaders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once while understanding cultural differences between various regions of the world.
  • Experience with developing and / or commercializing large capital medical devices.
  • Experience with advanced scheduling and resource management tools.
  • Experience working under regulations of the FDA, notified bodies, and other regulatory agencies for successful commercial launches.
  • Product launch experience working with Global teams.

Salary ranges for US (excl. PR) locations (USD) : $136,000.00 - $204,000.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification / education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week : Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance / reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees : Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums). Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
