Grid Systems Consultant

Location : Kansas City, MO

Our client is seeking a Grid Systems Consultant to support the delivery of comprehensive grid modernization consulting services for electric utility clients. This role contributes to the successful execution of initiatives that enhance reliability, modernize operations, and integrate advanced grid technologies for a resilient, future-ready utility infrastructure.

The consultant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support clients through all phases of their transformation journey—from strategy and business case development to system integration, implementation, and post-deployment support.

Focus Areas

  • Grid modernization strategy and execution
  • SCADA, OMS, ADMS, DERMS implementation and support
  • Requirements gathering, RFP development, and vendor selection
  • Project coordination, testing, and deployment
  • Post-deployment operational support and training

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery and implementation of SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS solutions
  • Assist with commissioning, testing, and deployment of grid systems
  • Provide field support and troubleshooting for advanced applications (e.g., FLISR, VVO, DER integration)
  • Participate in requirements gathering, data analysis, and business process documentation
  • Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and milestone tracking
  • Support design, build, configuration, testing, and defect triage activities
  • Assist with project management tasks using Agile or Waterfall methodologies
  • Prepare technical documentation, client presentations, and quality deliverables
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and training sessions
  • Support change management and business process design
  • Assist with software selection, RFP development, and vendor evaluation
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and site policies
  • Provide post-deployment support, including training and documentation updates
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including :
  • 8+ years of Oracle Utilities Network Management System (NMS) OMS experience

  • Experience with OMS, DMS, ADMS, AMI, Distribution Automation, and DER integration
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with leading-edge operational technologies and industry-standard tools
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies
  • Ability to lead or influence project execution and collaborate effectively with clients and teams
