Description : Position Purpose :
At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center.
What You Will Do :
Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries.
Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards..
Minimum Qualifications :
Required :
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree in Nursing is required
Valid RN license in Connecticut
Ideal candidates will have 1 or more years of experience in the Inpatient PACU nursing, with a detailed history of expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills
Preferred :
Bachelor's in Nursing
BLS / CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines
This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training for the Main PACU requirements. Candidates must be able to function independently in the PACU.
Position Highlights :
Full-Time - Weekends Only - Night Shift.
Will work 24 hours from 7 : 00 pm Friday thru 7 : 30 am Monday but will be paid for 30 hours per week.
All shifts will be every weekend, plus holidays if a holiday lands on a weekend.
All colleagues will be paid a special shift differential for the 24 hours worked and an additional bonus totaling 6 hours of their base rate for non-worked hours. Also eligible for shift differentials during 24 hours worked
Specialty pay is available exclusively to experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
