The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking Full-Time Team Leaders / Mental Health Security Unit Supervisors for the Division of Behavioral Health at Lincoln Regional Center.

Under limited supervision, these positions perform supervisory and administrative work involving the direction of assigned staff and their activities in the patient care area for a specific shift and / or program. These positions are responsible for and participates in direct patient care assuring that safety and security in the patient care areas is maintained. These positions are a working supervisor position. These positions also monitors the environment for compliance with program / facility policies and procedures.

  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work activities of assigned staff.
  • Provides day to day leadership and direction to assigned staff to meet the individual patient needs, follow and implement scheduled daily activities and follow through with active treatment as directed by the Treatment Team.
  • Performs administrative supervision of staff, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, time records, and hiring process.
  • Assures staff training and competency requirements are met.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of and consistently enforces DHHS and LRC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains effective communication with administrative and program staff for continuity of care.
  • Demonstrates leadership by working effectively with others to improve operations for the benefit of the patient and / or organization while monitoring staff.
  • Works directly in the patient care areas monitoring staff in assisting patients in areas of personal hygiene, grooming, activities of daily living, leading group activities and assuring patient personal schedules are followed.
  • Participates in patient plan of care, initiates and maintains an active and therapeutic treatment environment for the patients through supervision of assigned staff. Directs and performs activities to establish and maintain a safe, secure and clean environment for patients and staff.

Wage : $30.005 per hour, with an increase to $31.506 per hour after successful completion of probation. Shift : 1st Shift, Building #3 / Womens Acute. Days and hours will be discussed at interview.

Minimum Qualifications : Coursework / training in human services, social / behavioral sciences, mental health care or related field OR experience providing direct care services to patients with mental illness or other disability. Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring and / or supervising others. Must be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations; at least 21 years of age to work with adolescent client populations.

Preferred Qualifications : Previous supervisory and / or behavioral health experience. Experience with Lincoln Regional Center policies is a plus, but not required. Must have a valid drivers license. Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

Knowledge of : the principles and techniques of supervision; security measures required in the care of criminal and dangerously insane patients; techniques of caring for physically and / or mentally ill patient; human behavior and performance; principles and methods for instructing individuals and groups.

Skill in : listening and understanding; communicating effectively as appropriate for the intended audience; teaching others how to do something.

Ability to : manage human resources, plan, assign, direct, and evaluate work of staff; learn, interpret and apply applicable State and federal regulations; work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel in giving total patient care; prepare pertinent and accurate reports of patient care and other unity activities; carry out established security measures for protection of patients, employees, and the community; make decisions and act quickly in situations involving patient care or safety; lift, push, pull, or bend to assist patients in meeting their needs and maintaining safety within the facility / unit.
