Sterilization Technician

Job Title : Sterilization Technician

Location : San Francisco, CA

Pay Rate : $25–28 / hour

Contract Duration : 3 months

Setting : Clinic

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our clinic team. This short-term contract role is critical to maintaining a safe and sterile environment for patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in sterile processing and a strong understanding of infection control protocols in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities :

• Instrument Decontamination :
• Receive and clean reusable medical instruments used in routine procedures such as dermatology, podiatry, gynecology, and minor surgeries.
• Sterilization Processing :
• Operate tabletop autoclaves and other sterilization equipment. Ensure proper cycle selection, loading, and documentation for each batch.
• Inspection and Assembly :
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness and damage. Assemble procedure trays and packs based on clinic schedules and provider preferences.
• Inventory Management :
• Monitor stock levels of sterile supplies and notify clinic staff of shortages. Assist in ordering and restocking as needed.
• Documentation and Compliance :
• Maintain accurate logs of sterilization cycles, biological indicators, and equipment maintenance. Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and clinic-specific infection control standards.
• Collaboration and Communication :
• Coordinate with medical assistants and providers to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments. Communicate any delays or equipment issues promptly.
• Quality Assurance :
• Participate in routine audits and ensure all sterilization protocols are followed. Report any deviations or concerns to the clinic manager.
• Safety and Infection Control :
• Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols when handling contaminated instruments and biohazardous waste.
