Responsibilities

The Manager, Employee Relations role is a member of a centralized coordination team within the People Strategies team. The purpose of this role is to ensure that Shawmut’s People Strategy practices conform with all legal and ethical requirements while driving an employee-oriented, high performance culture. This includes employment and compliance to regulatory concerns; policy development and documentation; and employee relations policies, procedures and practices.

Employee Relations

  • Collaborates closely with Business Partners and broader PST team on complex employee relations matters.
  • Meets with employees and management to communicate and reinforce various policies, procedures, and laws to ensure a compliant, fair, safe and efficient work environment.
  • Provides coaching to Business Partners and Managers on performance management and other employment related issues.
  • Develops and drives the implementation of personnel policies, procedures and required training and ensures compliance through tools, systems and influencing skills.
  • Stays current on federal and state labor laws including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ERISA.
  • Investigations

  • Leads workplace investigations in collaboration with the PST Business Partner and legal counsel as appropriate, making actionable recommendations in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensures all matters are properly documented closed out and tracked.
  • Compliance and Training

  • Creates and conducts training for HR, stakeholders and managers in support of employee relations regarding important topics for managers to understand (e.g., protected leaves, harassment and discrimination).
  • Collaborates with other functions to deliver annual ethics and compliance training.
  • Manages Affirmative Action Plan, annual reporting and goal tracking.
  • Manages I9, E-verify, visa / immigration process and file maintenance.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities may include

  • Special projects may be assigned.
  • Provides back-up support to PST Coordination team as needed.
  • Assists in responding to requests for information from internal clients and outside counsel.
  • Actively participate in meetings, group and company-wide training and initiatives (e.g., initiatives to improve processes and systems, etc.) to support and promote the value to others of involvement and to further company goals.
  • Qualifications

  • Experience : Seven or more years progressive employee relations experience.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree required. PHR and / or SHRM- CP preferred.
  • Additional Role Specific Skills : Broad technical knowledge and expertise in employee relations.Strong knowledge of federal and state compensation, employment, and benefits laws, and regulations.
