Description :

The position is located in an Intensive Care Unit with 31 beds.

Patient ratios are typically 2 : 1, with variations to 1 : 1 or 3 : 1 depending on acuity and staffing.

Unit secretaries are available during day shifts, with occasional support from nurse externs working as techs.

The unit is equipped with ventilators, external ventricular drains, continuous renal replacement therapy, SLED, and EV 1000 machines.

Documentation is managed through an electronic system.

Scheduling requires a minimum of 4 weekend shifts within a four-week schedule, which allows for some self-scheduling.

The manager will adjust shifts to balance staffing needs.

Contract labor is expected to float to other areas as required.

Staff are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and their family members.

The following advanced skills are necessary : insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and external ventricular drain insertions.

The required uniform consists of navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms.

Candidates may have the opportunity to work with new equipment or technology and can benefit from a supportive team with various scheduling options.
