Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support our client, a prominent educational institution in the greater Sacramento area. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to students and staff by providing both clinical and administrative support. Responsibilities include front desk reception, triage, cashiering, and direct assistance to healthcare providers within Health Services department.
Salary : $22.00-$25.00 per year DOE.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Clinical Support : Performs vital signs collection, medication administration, EKGs, lab tests, venipuncture, specimen processing, and assists in medical procedures within scope of practice.
- Patient Interaction & Outreach : Prepares patients for exams, educates students on health topics and insurance, participates in outreach, and addresses patient concerns professionally.
- Health Record Management : Maintains and scans medical documents, updates immunization records, and provides EMR support to staff.
- Administrative & Scheduling Duties : Coordinates patient scheduling across campuses, manages appointments, updates demographics, handles opening / closing procedures, and maintains office supply inventory.
- Financial Transactions & Reporting : Posts patient transactions, reconciles payments, monitors outstanding balances, and ensures billing accuracy.
- Cross-Functional Support & Compliance : Offers backup coverage for admin staff, assists in campus-wide duties, and supports immunization compliance initiatives.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :
Educational & Clinical Requirements : High School Diploma or GED, Medical Assistant Certification, completion of state-approved training for venipuncture, injections, and skin tests, plus one year of clinical experience in a medical office.Certifications : Current CPR / AED for professional rescuers and healthcare providers.Technical & Administrative Skills : Proficiency in medical billing, insurance claims, and computer systems; strong grasp of medical terminology, office practices, and confidentiality regulations.Communication & Interpersonal Strengths : Excellent customer service, time management, and ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism, compassion, and accuracy.Commitment to Equity & Inclusion : Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, promoting equity and inclusion, and integrating culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices.
