PCU RN Job Details – Amarillo, TX

Job Title : Travel PCU Registered Nurse (Stepdown RN)

Location : Amarillo, TX 79106 (Texas Panhandle)

Healthcare Setting : Intermediate Care / Med-Surg & PCU Mix

Employment Type : Travel Nursing Contract

Start Date : November 10, 2025

End Date : February 9, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day shift, 12-hour shifts (07 : 00 - 19 : 30), 3x12 or 4x12 hour days per week

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1,620 - $1,660

Openings : 2 PCU RN positions available

Patient Ratios : 1 : 4 to 1 : 6, depending on assignment

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Texas RN license or compact state nursing license

Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a PCU RN, Stepdown RN, IMC RN, or similar acute care nurse

Required certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Epic EMR experience within the last 6 months

Ability to float to departments of equal or lesser acuity

Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)

Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Travel nursing experience is a plus but not required

PCU RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or intermediate care setting

Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias and telemetry for cardiac patients

Manage cardiac drips (no titration), administer blood products, and provide central / peripheral line care

Respond to rapid response and code team activations

Implement isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy

Float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed

Document patient care using Epic EMR

Work 2 out of 3 major holidays if required
