Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills

Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem / Amiodarone)

General medical / surgical skills for care of patients with tubes / drains

IV start skills

Experience with blood products

Wound care and dressing changes

Description :

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our MedSurg / Tele team.

This position offers an opportunity to care for patients with various medical and surgical diagnoses.

The unit has 34 beds with an average census of 32 patients.

Patient types include those diagnosed with DKA, sepsis, wounds, CHF, AKI, pneumonia, diabetes, anemia, and sickle cell crisis.

Surgical patients may include those undergoing procedures for pancreatitis and spinal fusions as well as orthopedic total joints (knees and hips).

Patient ratios are RN : 1 : 5 during the day shift and 1 : 6 during the night shift, with surge staffing potentially increasing the ratio up to 1 : 7-8.

Support within the department includes dedicated nursing assistants, a receptionist / unit clerk, charge nurses, phlebotomists, an IV / VAT team, pharmacists, case managers, and a nurse educator.

This role involves using technology such as EPIC for electronic medical records and various monitoring systems.

Floating may be required within the region and will be compensated for travel time between facilities.

The scheduling cycle is every 6 weeks and requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
