This is a contract position governed by the terms and conditions of the employment agreement.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Paraprofessional work providing support and specialized enforcement for the Code Compliance Division
- Under the general supervision of the Code Compliance Division Manager, performs research, investigative, enforcement, and follow up duties on watering violations for the City; Issues notices of violation citations for non-compliance and prepares and processes cases for special magistrate hearings and court; Investigates Illegal parking complaints and issues parking tickets as appropriate.
- Ability to act as a public information resource.
- Ability to give and receive instructions and apply consistent courtesy and tact in public contact and / or confrontational situations.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply regulations, procedures, and related information.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in both routing and non-routine situations.
- Knowledge of local geography and of the location of roads and streets within the municipality.
- Knowledge of local codes and ordinances or how to access such.
- Knowledge of report and record keeping principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of evidence preservation, preparation, and correlations principles and practices.
- Skill in both written and oral communications for effective expression and clarity.
- Must have the ability to work early morning and late-night shifts, and flexible schedules as needed to address code violations.
- Individual(s) assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedule.
- May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
When assigned to the City Clerk Department :
Researches, investigates, enforces, and follows up on Business Tax Receipt and Residential Rental Registration compliance for the City.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; with one (1) year vocational work experience in investigation, inspection, or gathering evidence.Must possess a valid state driver's license upon hire and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.Tasks are performed inside and outside, subject to weather conditions and uneven terrain, and risk of exposure to toxic agents / chemicals, pathogens, and smoke. The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Tasks may require prolonged periods of visual concentration and require moderate levels of eye / hand / foot coordination.Requires the ability to speak, hear (perceive sound) and / or signal people to convey and exchange information; differentiate between colors or shades of color; read a variety of materials, at times complex; apply principles of rational problem-solving; record and deliver information, explain procedures, issue and follow oral and written instructions; and communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English as primary language while performing job duties.
