Position Overview

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for all aspects of the Service Operations Department at one or more assigned locations. As a senior manager, the OM collaborates with Sales, Business Office, and Purchasing teams to create an exceptional associate and customer experience aligned with CarMax culture.

Team Overview

Serves as a member of the senior management team; collaborates to set strategy for the store and provides vision, direction, and motivation to the team.

Role Responsibilities

· Management of team and processes associated with vehicle production and servicing

· Utilizes reports, analyzes information and monitors trends to identify opportunities in the business

· Displays financial responsibility through P&L management

· Identifies opportunities to reduce waste; identifies process improvements that are value added for customer and associate experience

· Interviews, hires, trains, and promotes associates to support Service Operations and company growth

· Champions and implements both company and store initiatives for consistent execution and procedures

· Resolves customer and associate issues

· Facilitates and participates in meetings and conference calls

· Associate Development

Required Qualifications

· Ability to read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records

· Completion of CarMax-provided training in all areas of the Inventory, Cosmetic, and Production processes

· Ability to multi-task in a high energy, fast-paced work environment

· Effective communication skills across departments

· Ability to make independent judgments regarding critical business decisions

· Ability to identify business opportunities and suggest improvements

· 3+ years of experience as a Manager, retail management preferred

· Intermediate computer skills

· May require walking or standing for an extended period of time

· Combination of both indoor and outdoor environment, including working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions

· Rotating schedule with shifts that will include nights, weekends, holidays and 12-hour days

· Occasional travel for meetings, training, and special assignments

· Flexibility to work at multiple locations or relocate

· Wears CarMax clothing (acquired through the company) at all times while working in the store

The annual salary for this position is:

$115,200.00 - $201,700.00

Benefits:

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

• To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
• For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
