Job Description Summary The MUSC Foundation manages approximately $1 billion in total assets, including $918 million in investments and $49 million in real estate, with remaining assets held in various other categories. The Foundation’s mission is to support the educational, research, clinical, and strategic programs of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), the Medical University Hospital Authority, and other related entities. MUSC Foundation is searching for a Finance Analyst who is responsible for bank reconciliations, treasury maintenance, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries and audit support. Position Details Entity: University Medical Associates (UMA) – Only Employees and Financials Worker Type: Employee Sub-Type: Regular Cost Center: CC002075 UMA OTHR PAY MUSC Foundation CC Pay Type: Salary Pay Grade: Health-26 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: Monday–Friday, Standard Day Hours Location: Foundation Office, Downtown Charleston Education: Bachelor’s degree or minimum of two years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field Job Duties Bank Reconciliation – 35% of time: timely preparation of bank account reconciliations for all entities, daily reconciliation of bank transactions, investigation and resolution of discrepancies with GL. Investment Reviews – 25%: reconcile investment accounts, review transaction codes, generate monthly allocations across approximately 1,700 projects, record investment-related transactions, maintain schedules, prepare audit schedules. Real Estate – 15%: reconcile real estate transactions, maintain supporting schedules, update Fixed Asset System, create depreciation entries, quarterly cash flow analysis, record derivative activities, prepare audit schedules. Accounting Support – 15%: reconcile asset and liability accounts, follow SOPs, prepare journal entries for treasury management, provide audit assistance. Other Duties/Special Projects – 10%: perform additional tasks as assigned, back‑up other staff, assist with system implementation and improvement. Qualifications Basic knowledge of accounting principles Knowledge of accounting, banking, financial management or investment principles, practices, theories and terminology Ability to learn and use new software and programs Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Ability to apply mathematical concepts proficiently Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and reports Ability to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis Organized, inquisitive, diligent, self‑directed Detail oriented High standards of work quality and presentation Physical Requirements Continuous requirements: indoor work, good finger dexterity, tactile sensory functions, 20/40 vision corrected in one or both eyes, good peripheral vision, hearing acuity with correction. Frequent requirements: standing, sitting, walking, using both hands and arms, repetitive motions, fine motor movements, reaching in all directions, visual discrimination, hearing at 3 feet. Infrequent requirements: outdoor work in all weather and temperature extremes; work in confined spaces and dusty areas; kneel, squat, perform pinching operations; lift and carry 15 lbs unassisted; lift objects up to 15 lbs from floor to 36 inches unassisted; push or pull objects up to 15 lbs unassisted.
