This role is based in McLean and works collaboratively with local and remote teammates to deliver high‑profile tunnel, shaft, and underground construction projects. Our team is growing, and we need a highly motivated Tunnel Designer to contribute to challenging, high‑profile infrastructure projects across the region. Responsibilities Prepare technical reports and drawings for underground works, including tunnels, shafts, cut‑and‑cover structures, and mined caverns. Perform engineering and analysis for tunnel and shaft design. Contribute to digital delivery and information management from conception through to completion. Communicate design work through drawing sketches indicating support types, geometry, construction sequencing, and instrumentation. Use tunnel analysis and design software such as FLAC/FLAC3D, Plaxis, Sofistik, AutoCAD, Revit, and other tools. Work in multidisciplinary teams for delivery of small, medium, and large‑scale projects. Qualifications Master of Science in Underground Construction/Tunnelling, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering. Familiarity with typical structural and geotechnical software, BIM, and parametric design modelling (e.g., Dynamo, Grasshopper). Exposure to work within the tunnel industry that advances structural and geotechnical analysis experience, and familiarity with aspects related to seismic design and scripts for multi‑objective design optimization. Good time‑management skills, ability to multitask, and sustain focus on longer tasks. Ability to work across different geographical areas, including distributed work centers.
