Assistant Director for Communications

The Assistant Director of Communications is responsible for creating media awareness, extending the brand and message of NC State University Athletics, and producing digital publications and publicity. Responsibilities Serve as the primary media relations and communications contact for three Olympic sport programs. Serve as content creator for assigned sports by editing graphic templates, recording, and posting social media videos. Work to develop and extend the brand of NC State, NC State Athletics, and assigned sports creatively in collaboration with the Athletics creative team. Serve as the primary liaison between assigned sports programs and national, regional, and local media, as well as the public. Develop communications strategies to reach media and supporters to generate revenue consistent with the mission of NC State Athletics. Develop and provide media training and instruction to student‑athletes, coaches, and administration. Foster and maintain positive relations with media representatives from electronic and print media. Research, write, and release digital sports publications and other materials to appropriate media, conference, and national offices, websites, etc. Create solutions and ideas to promote, brand, and market programs via all available media channels. Produce creative, timely, and relevant content to support editorial goals of GoPack.com. Oversee management of the press‑box at on‑campus sporting events, including hiring, supervision, instruction for all applicable game staffing, logistics, and technical requirements. Serve as host to media members at games and events. Develop design concepts, write, and produce online media guides, news releases, and other printed material when necessary. Coordinate media operations at all home events for assigned sports. Travel with selected teams to away contests. Report statistics and information to ACC and NCAA offices. Nominate and promote student‑athletes for conference, regional, and All‑American honors. Assist with content and maintenance for the GoPack.com athletics website and photography archives. Maintain knowledge of NCAA, ACC, and University rules and policies related to this position to ensure compliance. Other Responsibilities Adhere to all institution, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Report all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA policies and guidelines. Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs and evolving priorities. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field. Minimum of two years of experience in sports information or communications. Familiarity with applicable desktop publishing programs. Other Required Qualifications Ability to adhere to all institution, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Ability and willingness to report all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA policies and guidelines. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
