This role combines hands‑on custodial work with leadership responsibilities, including staff supervision, inspections, and coordination with the Head Custodian and Director of Building & Grounds. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Valid Driver’s License Job Responsibilities Supervision & Leadership Supervise and direct night custodial staff across assigned buildings Train new custodians on procedures, safety, and equipment use Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to the Head Custodian Building Operations & Security Ensure the building is secured at the end of the shift Conduct walkthrough inspections of classrooms, hallways, and common areas Act as the primary after‑hours contact for building concerns Custodial & Maintenance Oversight Ensure completion of cleaning tasks such as classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, and offices; floor care (sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing); trash removal and recycling Assist with hands‑on custodial work as needed Oversee setup/teardown for events, meetings, and activities Monitor minor maintenance tasks (light bulbs, minor repairs, etc.) and report them to the Head Custodian Safety & Compliance Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment Address hazards (snow removal, spills, unsafe conditions) promptly Inventory & Coordination Monitor custodial supplies and equipment levels Communicate with administrators, principals, and maintenance teams Seasonal / Additional Duties Assist with summer deep cleaning Support snow removal and exterior maintenanceli> Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team management skills Knowledge of custodial methods, equipment, and floor care Ability to inspect work and maintain high standards Good communication and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently during evening hours Equipment & Safety Requirements Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower, and hand tools.
