To support environmental compliance efforts, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Environmental Specialist will conduct inspections of underground storage tank (UST) facilities, ensuring adherence to regulations while working remotely within specified counties. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine compliance and installation inspections of UST facilities and take appropriate enforcement actions as needed Respond to citizen reports regarding abandoned USTs and suspected releases, ensuring proper actions are taken Provide information on UST rules and requirements to the regulated community and compile reports on inspection results Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences, or a closely related field Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Ability to conduct inspections and enforce compliance with environmental regulations Experience in community outreach and training presentations Knowledge of UST regulations and leak detection methods
