About the Team

OpenAI's Enterprise Identity team builds and maintains the core authentication and authorization systems used across our enterprise products. We ensure secure, scalable, and seamless access for small businesses and global organizations adopting ChatGPT, API, and other OpenAI offerings. Our work is foundational to enterprise security, IT integration, and safe deployment of AI in the workplace.

About the Role

We're looking for a software engineer to lead the development of OpenAI's enterprise identity platform. You'll design and implement systems that support SSO, SCIM, RBAC, and identity federation across all OpenAI products. Your work will directly support our most critical customers and unlock safe, large-scale enterprise adoption of OpenAI's models.

In this role, you will :

Build the next generation of enterprise authentication and authorization infrastructure, including SAML, OIDC, and OAuth2.0 integrations.

Design and implement support for key enterprise standards : SSO, SCIM provisioning, RBAC, and delegated access.

Evolve our identity data model and architecture to support complex customer org structures.

Partner with GTM, security, and product teams to shape identity features that meet current and future enterprise needs from small business to multinational organizations.

Develop tools and APIs for other engineering teams to integrate enterprise identity seamlessly.

You might thrive in this role if you :

Have experience building and operating production authentication and identity systems at scale.

Are fluent in identity protocols (OAuth2.0, SAML, SCIM, OIDC) and their security considerations.

Have worked with platforms like Auth0, WorkOS, or Ory Hydra.

Are proficient in backend development (Python preferred).

Enjoy building secure, developer-friendly APIs and infrastructure.

Are excited about shaping how enterprises safely access and govern the use of frontier AI.

Compensation Range : $240K - $370K
