Fire Systems Designer

Job Description

Our client in Louisville, KY , has an opening for a Fire Systems Designer to help with the production of drawings for fire protection and low voltage systems. Projects are typically for manufacturing, warehouses, offices, and industrial locations. The designs will be for fire alarm systems, low voltage systems, and special hazard areas.

Responsibilities :

Design and develop plans / drawings for installation and commissioning of fire protection systems

Learn and apply knowledge of NFPA and Building Codes

Know how to read and understand architectural / MEP Drawings Create accurate parts lists for projects

Attend Project Kick-Off Meetings to coordinate design, CAD, and pre-fabrication of jobs

Meet with clients, consultants, etc. to review project design and implementation

Assist with estimating of projects

Travel to and from job sites to assist with installation, turn on, and testing of projects

Working with Sales and Estimating team to prepare Bid Packages

Recommend and implement system enhancements Required :

3 plus years of fire alarm design

AutoCAD Proficiency

Ability to read and understand architectural / MEP drawings

Preferred : NICET Certification

Experience with Special Hazard fire systems. The focus of the role will be to put the fire protection shop drawings together. This will include design and development for installation and commissioning of fire protection systems. The systems they support are fire alarm, low voltage, and special hazard.
