Mold Changeover Technician

SUMMARY

Responsible for mold change over, and to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plastic injection molds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :

• Review production schedule and identify molds for change over, and react quickly to changing schedules.
• Ensure molds are production ready and provide guidance to injection mold machine operators.
• Change mold inserts over to run different parts and set date codes if needed
• Properly tag molds, inserts, and any secondary equipment
• Clean and lubricate molds upon return from production.  This includes loading and unloading of the solvent tank.
• Provide minor fabrication / repair of mold components, secondary fixtures, and gauges.
• Clean and perform minor repairs to hot manifold / sprue systems.
• Keep accurate account for all molds, inserts, etc., and verify actual location

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent, plus one or more years’ experience in a fast-paced injection molding setting is preferred but not required.

Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of tangible and intangible variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written text, oral, diagram or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.  The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must be able to lift or move packages weighing approximately 50-70 pounds, or more with the assistance of an overhead lift.
