Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with strong trauma and robotics experience for a hospital-based position in Alabama requiring an active AL or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital operating room setting with 15 OR beds, including 2 CVOR suites
  • Level II Trauma Center with minimal pediatric cases, primarily orthopedic
  • Patient care is 1 : 1 in the operating room
  • RN circulates only and covers a wide variety of cases including general, trauma (no burns), orthopedic (including total joints and spine), neuro, ENT, vascular (including endovascular), GYN, urology, plastics, breasts, and eyes
  • Experience with robotic surgeries, including Robotic Mazor and DaVinci XI, is preferred
  • Cerner EMR is used, with supporting technology including Plum 360 pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
  • No floating required
  • On-call required : one weekday and one weekend per month with 30-minute response time
  • Weekend rotation includes on-call responsibilities
  • Expected to work at least one holiday per contract
  • Two-week orientation on day shift, including buddy call
  • Work alongside a supportive team including OR assistants, desk assistant, charge nurse, and service line team leaders
  • Two-week orientation provided with expectation for buddy call participation
  • Scrub attire is green and provided by the facility
  • Parking is available in a parking deck
  • On-site expectation for 30-minute call response time
  • Holiday coverage is required as part of the contract

    • Requirements

  • Active AL or compact RN license required
  • Minimum two years of recent operating room RN experience required
  • Strong competency in trauma (excluding burns), neuro, ortho (total joints and spine), general, vascular, ENT, GYN, urology, plastics, and robotic procedures
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Experience circulating in all listed service lines required
  • Robotics experience preferred
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Will accept first-time travelers if all experience requirements are met
  • Previous permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
