Job descriptionJob Title : FEMA - Cultural Resources Specialist Group : WAF Field Mod Fringe Employment Type : Temporary Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in history, archaeology, anthropology, architectural history, art history, historic preservation or related field is required. 5 years of in-field experience or 2 years of in-field of expertise with a professional registration. Job Site Location : United States - Nationwide Visa Sponsorship Available : No - We will not support sponsorship, i.e. H-1B or TN Visas for this position Assignment Category : Fulltime-Temporary Travel : 100% Background Check and Drug Testing Information : CDM Smith reserves the right to require background checks and drug testing as described in the company policy. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment in the United States. Pay Range : Minimum $33.60; Maximum $67.20 Additional Compensation : All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position. Work Location Options : Successful candidate will be required to work in office and field locations as needed. Driver's License Requirements : An appropriate and valid driver's license is required. Notes : This is an evergreen position to build a candidate pool for future Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contractors – PA TAC V opportunities in the West Zone. If the position opens, qualified candidates may be contacted. Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a FEMA Badge, which includes a background investigation for a Public Trust position. High competency with computers and software (Word, Excel). Solid knowledge of relevant historic preservation laws, regulations, and the Section 106 and 110 compliance processes as they apply to undertakings and management of historic properties. Solid professional compliance report writing skills. Good organizational skills and ability to work independently. Good communication and relationship management skills. Why CDM Smith? Overview
The FEMA Cultural Resources Specialist :
- Provides technical expertise to ensure compliance with Federal historic preservation laws and regulations. Conduct reviews in accordance with 36 CFR Part 800—Protection of Historic Properties, Section 106 Review Process.
- Conducts record searches and surveys to help identify cultural resources and areas of concern. Reviews project descriptions, drawings, maps, and photographs to assess the potential of the project to impact cultural resources.
- Produces cultural resource documents presenting research and analysis results.
- Provides status updates.
- Communicate and coordinate with staff within FEMA as well as local, state, tribal and / or territorial governments.
- Performs other tasks associated with ensuring projects comply with Federal historic preservation laws and regulations.
- May coordinate and complete basic to moderately complex site inspections to validate and record damage to assist in the FEMA Public Assistance grant delivery process.
