Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU assignment requiring Level I trauma and strong dysrhythmia skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 24-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in an acute care, Level I trauma setting
  • Primarily cares for post-cardiac surgery, transplant, thoracic, and critically ill cardiovascular patients
  • Patient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 2, with a high number of 1 : 1 assignments
  • Uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry equipment
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7 : 00pm-7 : 00am, with three weekend shifts required per four-week period
  • Expected to work two out of four major holidays during assignment
  • Nurses must float to other ICUs, all telemetry units, and to the Westgate campus as needed; patient ratios on tele units are 4 : 1
  • Charge RN does not take an assignment; nurse aides (PCTs) are available on both days and nights with high census
  • Strong IV skills needed as no designated IV team on staff
  • RNs are responsible for advanced cardiac and critically ill patient care, including participation in bedside procedures and post-operative management
  • Intensivist available during days and on-call at night; RT and Pharmacy coverage provided 24 / 7
  • Travelers must have their own vehicles for transportation between campuses if needed
  • SIMs Lab and orientation includes skills assessment on sterile technique, lifts, restraints, and wound care
  • First-day pass / fail SIMs Lab for key nursing skills; failing two attempts on required exams results in ineligibility for future assignments for six months
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Returning staff are not eligible if employed by any related facility within the past year

    • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact state RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum of two years' recent ICU experience required, with Level I trauma and CVICU experience strongly preferred
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN certification preferred
  • Passing score on a basic or advanced dysrhythmia (Relias) exam required prior to offer; two attempts permitted
  • Must pass a hands-on sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation
  • Must possess strong IV access skills and experience with bedside procedures such as IABP, CRRT, ECMO, CABG, and Swans
  • Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing
  • Required to provide references including at least one supervisor from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the past three years
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
