About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience

License : State RN License in good standing

Certifications :

• BLS (American Heart Association)

Must-Have : ASN preferred, BSN

Description :

Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.

Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.

Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.

Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards, based on patient and family needs.

Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.

Modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation.

Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and / or correcting safety hazards and incidents.

Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.

Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base.

Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.

Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.

Appropriately performs patient care duties such as head-to-toe assessments, starting IVs, inserting NG tubes, dressing changes, administering medications, and inserting Foley catheters.

Accesses Mediports and maintains ports throughout the shift.

Maintains documentation standards as evidenced by passing quarterly chart audits.

Assists with bone marrow aspirations at the bedside.

Provides emotional support to patients and their families.

Administers chemotherapy / biotherapy to patients not only in the oncology unit but also throughout the hospital.
