Job description

Project Coordinator

Work directly with : Mental Health Program Coordinator

Location : GLAD (Los Angeles)

Classification : Subcontractor, Temporary (ending June 30th, 2026)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities :

The Project Coordinator will :

  • Develop and coordinate at least 3 social events and a major mental health fair
  • Develop logistics and advertising plans
  • Coordinate with vendors, guest speakers, panelists, and other community partners to make the events successful
  • Order supplies and equipment for the events
  • Work closely with various GLAD staff in promoting the events
  • Design resource material packages
  • Do final checks prior to and on the day of the events to ensure everything meets the standards
  • Oversee the events, be proactive, and be prepared to resolve issues relating to the events
  • Develop surveys, collect data, and generate reports
  • Be available for some weekends as needed for the day of events
  • Perform additional work functions and responsibilities as directed by the Mental Health program coordinator

Qualifications :

  • Fluency in American Sign Language is required
  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Have experience developing and coordinating an event
  • Familiar with ADA laws and accommodations requirements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong time management skills and problem-solving ability
  • Must be a flexible self-starter and a resourceful team player; detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to document activities accurately and prepare reports; Prioritize and handle multiple tasks and sometimes with competing deadlines.
  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to perform professionally. Punctuality and reliability are a must.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be knowledgeable about Deaf, hard-of-hearing, deafblind, and deaf-disabled communities.
  • Note : As part of our hiring process, the selected candidate must complete and pass a background check of references, criminal background screening, and drug screening.

    The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness is a private non-profit organization that was founded in 1969 and now has 13 locations serving 10 counties in Southern California.

    Our goal is to protect the civil rights, and ensure equal access for the deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled communities in particular areas of California, including the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono, Inyo and San Luis Obispo, to all of life's opportunities.

    GLAD's general purpose and powers shall be to promote the educational, health, housing, vocational, cultural, social and recreational welfare of its deaf and hard of hearing constituents.

    The organization's specific and primary purposes shall be to act as a coordinating agency addressing the broad social service needs of deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled individuals through direct service provision, advocacy, research and dissemination of information to the consumers, professionals and parents.

    Salary - $50 per hour
