JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the Company’s accounting functions, including financial operations, systems and controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting. This role drives organizational financial health by ensuring compliance, efficiency, and innovation in accounting practices. Additionally, the Director of Accounting collaborates with leadership to shape and execute strategic financial priorities, positioning the Company for long-term success and sustainable growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develops and maintains all necessary accounting policies and procedures, including general ledger and financial reporting. Maintains compliance with generally accepted accounting principals, tax regulations, and industry financial standards.
• Leads budgeting and forecasting initiatives to ensure financial strategies support sustainable business growth, operational efficiency, and long-term success.
• Analyzes company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with quarterly reporting to the ownership group.
• Coordinates and reviews financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborates with project teams to analyze revenue, cost drivers, and resource allocation, ensuring the development of effective financial reports tailored to architectural project tracking and firm operations.
• Establishes and maintains internal controls, mitigating financial risk and ensuring compliance.
• Oversees account analyses and reconciliations, developing internal reports to support the accounting department and other teams. Ensures timely issuance of reports while meeting all external reporting requirements and deadlines.
• Evaluates and recommends improvements to financial processes, systems, and controls to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.
• Manages all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, property and other applicable taxes.
• Collaborates with external CPA to manage S Corp tax planning and financial reporting, ensuring adherence to company bylaws and shareholder agreements.
• Manages partner relationships with lending / financial institutions to support BRR’s financial needs and managing cash flow.
• Manages and mentors the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Develops and supports the accounting team by fostering professional development, ensuring staff stays current with accounting standards, technology and best practices.
• Establishes clear team objectives, conducts regular performance evaluations, and provides strategic leadership in financial operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals.
