About the Role
The Company is seeking a visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead its mission of advancing debate education in urban public schools. The successful candidate will be the chief executive officer, responsible for executive leadership, operational management, and external representation. This role is pivotal in championing the organization's mission to amplify youth voices, develop confidence, and create pathways to college and career readiness through debate. The Executive Director will be the public face of the organization, cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, and education leaders, and will be expected to secure major gifts and institutional funding. They will also lead a diverse team, foster a culture of equity and inclusion, and ensure the organization's financial sustainability.
Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include serving as the organization's chief ambassador, developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies, and representing the company at national events. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in senior executive roles, experience in mission-driven organizations, and a strong network in the philanthropic community. They should be adept at strategic planning, team leadership, and have a deep commitment to educational equity. The role requires a confident communicator, both in person and through the media, and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. A Bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree strongly preferred, and Spanish fluency is a plus.
