Lead Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Shift : Sunday and Monday 2 : 30pm-10 : 30pm

Salary : $22.70-$28.00 hourly

Requirements :

  • Valid CA CNA license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and physical

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. The position of Certified Nursing Assistant Supervisor also includes all Duties and Responsibilities of the Certified Nursing Assistant.

  • All duties and responsibilities shall be performed as set forth in our established policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to and assures compliance with Code of Conduct, facility policies and procedures and all applicable rules, regulations and standards as promulgated by Federal, State, and accrediting agencies or regulating bodies. This includes, but is not limited to, Department of Health, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Assures that all staff complete required compliance training and processes.
  • Responsible for serving as a mentor to new Certified Nurse Assistants, providing orientation, assisting with training and making recommendations to nursing administration.
  • Assists with new employee selection and hiring process. Evaluates the skills of New Certified Nurse Assistants and makes recommendations to management regarding the state of a new employee's orientation program.
  • Communicates new programs, interventions and new procedures with the CNA Staff.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the resident's room.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel are knowledgeable of the resident's responsibilities and rights including the right to refuse treatment.
  • Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written / oral report to the Director indicating what action(s) were taken to resolve the complaint or grievance.
  • Maintain a written record of the resident's complaints and / or grievances that indicates the action taken to resolve the complaint and the current status of the complaint.
  • Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and / or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Ensure that nursing staff personnel honor the resident's refusal of treatment request. Ensure that such requests are in accordance with the facility's policies governing advance directives.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident to the DON, Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to your supervisor.
  • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood / body fluids.
  • Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Nurse Supervisor / Charge Nurse immediately.
  • Report all safety violations.
  • Follow established isolation precautions and procedures.
  • Follow established procedures in the use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
  • Use only the equipment you have been trained to use; operate all the equipment in a safe manner.
  • Inform the nurse Supervisor / Charge Nurse of any changes in the resident's condition so that appropriate information can be entered on the resident's care plan.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and / or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor the resident's refusal of treatment request. Report such requests to your supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

    Certificates and Licenses :

  • Must possess a current C.N.A. certification issued by the state.
  • Experience :

  • At least 1 year as a C.N.A. preferably in a long term care setting.
  • Other Specific Requirements

  • Must provide evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire and as set forth by the policies of the facility.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Follows written and oral instructions.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Works in resident areas, office areas and throughout the facility.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Works beyond normal working hours on weekends and holidays, when necessary.
  • Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors and is exposed to dust, disinfectants, hazardous chemicals, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, or others.
  • Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including Tuberculosis and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (with or without the aid of mechanical devices) :

  • Possess sight / hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Operate computer, cellular telephone and facility telephone and paging systems.
  • Repetitive hand motion. Minimal lifting and carrying requirements.
  • Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
