Description :

Seeking a skilled RN for a MedSurg / Tele position.

The role involves caring for general medical patients, including those with cardiac issues, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, and fluid overload.

Patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 4 patients and 1 CNA to 8 patients.

Required skills include patient care assistant duties, managing surgical drains, wound care, and telemetry.

The environment supports the RN's efforts, with CNAs assisting in vital sign checks and daily living activities.

Nursing assistants are available for support, and the charge nurse floats to assist as needed.

Phlebotomy is performed on the unit, and staff are responsible for starting their own IVs.

Telemetry assistance is available 24 / 7, with a team of hospitalists and intensivists on site.

RNs are expected to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips during their shifts.

The electronic medical record system in use is Epic, and Alaris pumps are used for IV administration.

RNs will participate in a weekend rotation, with holiday work expectations set at 75%.

Shift times vary between 0630-1900 and 1830-0700, with scheduling cycles every 6 weeks.

The unit culture is described as friendly, within an academic healthcare setting.
