Job Title : BAS / Controls Sales Engineer

Location : Tampa, FL

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled BAS / Controls Sales Engineer to join our growing team in Tampa, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing customer relationships, identifying opportunities, and providing engineered solutions for Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and energy management projects across the commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial markets.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of sales acumen, technical expertise, and a passion for helping clients create smarter, more energy-efficient buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage long-term relationships with mechanical contractors, building owners, facility managers, engineers, and design-build firms.
  • Identify new sales opportunities and grow existing accounts by promoting BAS solutions including HVAC controls, integration, energy management, and retrofits.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals, system scopes, and cost estimates that align with customer needs and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and timely delivery of proposals and project documentation.
  • Conduct site walks, review construction documents, and evaluate customer specifications to inform system designs and pricing strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
  • Stay current on building automation technologies, market trends, and competitive offerings in the Tampa and Central Florida region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Building Automation, Construction Management, or related field—or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in BAS / controls sales, HVAC systems, or MEP solutions.
  • Strong understanding of DDC control systems, HVAC equipment, and integration protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
  • Experience working with or selling systems from Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or Schneider Electric is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and control schematics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and estimating software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to client sites in the Tampa Bay area.
