Diagnostic Imaging Tech Assistant

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the DI Technologist Assistant position is to provide support within Diagnostic Imaging. DI Technologist Assistant will retrieve patients from the waiting room, holding room or nursing floor. Assists with cleaning of prep rooms, imaging rooms and stocks supplies to ensure patient readiness. Identifies supply needs and performs duties within the scope of DI Technologist Assistant.

Patient Care and Safety

-Ensures all patients are provided care in a safe environment, free of hazards. Provides full attention to the patient and the environment.
-Correctly identifies patients using approved identifiers.
-Implements all safety and fall precautions and communicates needs with team members through effective methods. Recognizes patient distress signs, initiates and follows emergency procedures: nurse/physician, DIURT, CODE.
-Ensures work areas and equipment is safe, clean, organized and appropriate supplies are available for the imaging area.

Service and Efficiency

-Exhibits and maintains a high level of professionalism and customer service at all times. -Respectful and professional at all times when interacting with patients and guests, staff and faculty.
-Actively seeks opportunities to assist in overall patient care activities in the department. This may include escorting patients from holding areas to imaging rooms, and assisting colleagues.
-All other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

REQUIREMENTS

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
and
completion of year 1 in the Diagnostic Imaging program within the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Preferred Education: None

Certification Required: None
Preferred Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
