Must-Have : Epic experience, Management of external ventricular drains (EVD), Intracranial pressure monitoring, Ventilator management, Management of vasoactive drips, Tracheostomy care, Central line maintenance, Post-monitor TNK and IR, Competency in CRRT

Description :

This position requires an RN in the ICU specializing in Neurosurgery.

The facility is a teaching hospital with a Level 1 Trauma designation and comprehensive pediatric services.

The ICU has 29 beds with an average daily census of 29 patients.

Patient types include neuro patients such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries.

RNs will typically work with a patient ratio of 1 : 2 but may be tripled with downgrade orders.

Certified Nursing Assistants are not consistently present on this unit.

Supervisory support includes a Stroke Response Nurse, Clinical Educator, and Charge Nurse.

Nurses have access to 24 / 7 RT and Intensivist support, as well as a shared pharmacist after hours.

Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy services are available seven days a week.

Floating to other adult critical care units may occur as needed.

The team culture emphasizes teamwork and staff retention.

Working every other weekend and 75% of holidays is expected.

Required skills include proficiency with EMR systems and specialized equipment used in neurocritical care.
